TWINSBURG (March 11, 2016) – The City of Twinsburg, Twinsburg Township, and Village of Reminderville will set the 2017 Bicentennial in motion this May with an opening launch party. Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars to attend the event on May 12th at 6:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Clinic – Twinsburg.
The evening will feature the release of the bicentennial logo, an introduction to the new website, a sneak peek into the area’s history, thoughts from community leaders, and even suggestions about how to contribute.
“We have some very exciting plans for the 2017 celebration that we’re looking forward to sharing,” expressed Mayor Yates. “This is truly a community project that everyone can leave their mark on. We want to get everyone involved.”
The Bicentennial Planning Committee consists of members from Twinsburg, Twinsburg Township, Reminderville, Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce, Twinsburg Historical Society, Twinsburg Public Library, and Twinsburg School District. The committee has teamed up with Pursue Posterity, an organization specializing in history, to preserve the area’s most cherished memories and make it available to residents. The organization has been conducting oral interviews and gathering historical artifacts since September 2015 and continues to do so in preparation for 2017. Pursue Posterity will also be in attendance on May 12th to speak with attendees.
The committee suggests that residents will not only find the area’s past to be interesting, but also entertaining with local urban legends and fun facts for all ages. The celebration will offer opportunities for the whole family to engage with history.
May’s opening event will set the stage for an exciting year to come in 2017. More information will be communicated as it becomes available.
