TWINSBURG (November 9, 2015) – Twinsburg Parks and Recreation is teaming up with area residents to give back to the local community through three donation campaigns this holiday season.

“I think it’s fantastic that each year the public supports these donation programs and helps those in our area have a happier holiday season,” expressed Derek Schroeder, Twinsburg Parks and Recreation Director.

The first campaign, “Give Thanks, Get Fit,” challenges residents to donate five non-perishable food items at Twinsburg Fitness Center between November 16th and November 20th. In return, donors will receive a free pass good for one visit to the Fitness Center or attendance to a fitness class. All items collected will be given to Our Community Hunger Center in Twinsburg. Personal care and paper products are also accepted. There is a limit of 5 items at a time and a maximum of three free passes per family.

Twinsburg Fitness Center will also help spread holiday cheer through their annual “Holiday Giving Tree” campaign to benefit Summit County Children and Family Services. Beginning November 23rd, area residents may pick up a Wish Card for a child in need. Gifts with the Wish Card attached must be returned to the Fitness Center by December 8th.

Their final campaign will be focused on the most under donated item to local shelters, socks. The effort is called “Holiday Sock Drive: Defeat Cold Feet,” which asks residents to drop off unused and unopened socks at Twinsburg Community Center, Senior Center, or Fitness Center. The campaign will run from December 9th to December 23rd.

With many options to choice from, there is no better time to get involved and support those in need this holiday season!
