Good Afternoon. This is Mayor Ted Yates and I wanted to provide you an update on the City operations and the latest information we have received from the county and state. The City is currently operating with only essential staff during this mandatory “Stay at Home” period ordered by the Governor. Fortunately, Twinsburg anticipated this action and was prepared for this drastic change in operations. As of yesterday afternoon the State has 867 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 15 deaths. Summit County has 50 confirmed cases with 13 hospitalizations and 1 death. We expect these numbers to continue to rise over the next few weeks. Please continue to practice social distancing and limit your interactions with people outside your immediate family. I know this is a difficult time but our actions play an important role in the ultimate spread of COVID-19 virus.
Several important announcements that are City related:
- We have stopped our branch chipping during this period so be aware if you are out cleaning up your yard.
- Notices have gone out regarding changes to trash pick-up. Waste Management will not be picking up anything left outside the trash containers. This is temporary in an effort to limit the exposure of their drivers and employees.
- Please limit what you flush down your toilet to bathroom tissue only. Flushable wipes, paper towels and any other paper or nonpaper products should be thrown away and not flushed. We want to protect the operations of our Waste Water Treatment Plant during these times. We are also providing a 30-day grace period for your current sewer bill that is now due.
- The Ohio State legislature passed a bill setting the new Primary Voting date to Tuesday, April 28th.
- We will continue to hold Council meetings during this period, but we are working on ways to electronically hold virtual meetings to protect our elected officials and the public.
