Introduction Karen Labbe and her husband, Mike, built their first home in Twinsburg 27 years ago on Sharonbrook Drive. After the addition of their three children, Alex (25), Tori (24) and Nick (20), they moved their expanding family to Wallingford Drive in the Ledges where they currently reside. They credit the loving support of their neighbors and the sense of community and excellent youth programs as reasons for staying in Twinsburg, despite an initial plan to move back New England, where they were both born and raised.
After giving up her beloved job as a Human Resources generalist at Kennametal in Solon, Mrs. Labbe quickly became immersed in the Twinsburg community by joining the Garden Club (with a stint as President) and with daily activities at the library, Little Gym and play groups with her young children. As the children grew and their activities multiplied, both Labbe’s found themselves coaching local sports (soccer, baseball, basketball and softball). Karen served on the Twinsburg Baseball League board of directors for many years and spent many summers running both concession stands, helping with tournaments and cheering from the sidelines. Karen was involved at Ss Cosmas and Damian church with vacation bible school, children’s liturgy and a short stint with Parish Council.
Mrs. Labbe was appointed by City Council to serve on the Beautification Commission. Her expertise in gardening was also sought when the City hired her as a seasonal employee to aid in the upkeep of its’ gardens.
After many years of being an activities driven mom with three children in multiple sports and activities she believes it’s time to get back to giving to her community and will seek the Ward 3 Council seat this coming November.
